Just Like the Movies

As to have what a banner says on a protest, all disaster movies start with a scientist being ignored. Movies like 2012, Don't Look Up, Deep Impact, Armageddon, etc portrays that the government there only acts when the disaster is near or when they only realize it once they can feel its destructive outcomes to humanity. Scientists have already done their part in voicing out about the upcoming disaster but the people probably just heard about it, not acting on it. Are we gonna end up like those in the movies?

Scientists from different parts of the world have joined hands to hold protests last April 6, 2022, that calls for climate revolution after the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has reported that we only have 3-5 years to look for ways to save Earth from catastrophic disaster. Participating scientists were from Spain, Germany, and Washington, D.C as part of the Scientist Rebellion. They were calling for immediate efforts to stop the usage of non-renewable sources of energy which are fossil fuels, coal, oil, and natural gases. This type of energy emits a massive quantity of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into our atmosphere making our planet warmer than the usual temperature which results in the rising of seawater levels. However, the desperation of scientists was mauled over by the government. They were arrested like they did something wrong.

The government and corporations should start listening to the cries of the educated and should set aside their capitalistic objectives. They have the power to make significant sustainable efforts to resolve this global issue in three to five years. I understand that you are trying to be as eco-friendly as possible. People trying to use Ecosia to help plant trees, delete emails to decrease the carbon footprint, save water, and other sustainable actions that an ordinary citizen is good however, no matter how eco-friendly you are, your efforts are just mere efforts. It is just a single grain of dust compared to all the sands of Earth. I apologize but this is the truth. Unless we have a full change in our system, we can have an observable change to ease climate change immediately.

"Public disobedience" hearsay. In my opinion, it is not. What the scientists did was a call of desperation to save our only planet. Chaining themselves in public spaces as part of protests is not a crime, ignoring their calls is.  Declare climate emergency now.
