To my son...
By Carmela D. Siroy
There are so many things I wish you knew
But your innocence is something so pure and true
I wish I could tell you how big this world is
And that it is full of love and hatred as it is
No matter how you choose to look at the world we live in
I want you to always have kindness within
And to always be good to those who do you wrong
Always choose to forgive and understand all along
And as you grow older people also come and go
I want you to choose carefully these ones you must really know
It's okay to have few friends as long as they're true
Treasure them deeply and they will do the same to you
I wish I could always be here for you
To love you, guide you all the way through
But someday in this world, my time will come
When I can no longer shelter you in my arms
But as long as I live I will teach you all these things
The ones that made me fly and the ones that broke my wings
My son, nothing goes to waste in this journey called life
Both good and bad experiences shape your mind and your heart.

A mother's love doesn't make her son more dependent and timid; it actually makes him stronger and more independent.".
